BHC Seal of Approval: The Cadbury “Scream” Egg, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream

Ptewwwwwwww!

Oh dear oh dear. Where does the time go? It’s already the end of September, and you know what that means: We’re screaming down the chute toward the holidays. Already.

And even though September is yet still with us, the retailers have their holiday inspired wares front and center. Already.

Fortunately, I’ve found two holiday related products that I can get behind. These get the coveted BHC Seal of Approval.

The first is a scream. Remember when you had your first Cadbury Creme Egg? I do. Something about a chocolate egg with fake yolk inside just turned me all sorts of on. I can’t handle that much sugar anymore, but my kids can make handy work of these things. And do, every Spring.

But now comes this:

Cadbury Scream Egg

SQEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

That’s right. It’s a Cadbury SCREAM Egg. Just in time for Halloween.

And the yolk is GREEN! Like…SNOT…or….ZOMBIE PUS or….I dunno. Ask your son. He’ll have a fantastic idea for you to chew on.

I was so charmed I couldn’t even be annoyed by the fact that these appeared at my Walgreen’s eight full weeks before Halloween.

I haven’t sampled this yet. I’ve bought several, which were readily consumed by the 12-year-old boy, who had no complaints about the taste of zombie pus or whatever. Yes, it’s shameful pimping of an already popular product, but that’s also known as good marketing. And the play on words (cream? Scream? Get it?) made me laugh, because I’m simple like that.  Bottom line: As a mom and a bad home cook, I salute this product!

But wait! There’s more!

Thanksgiving is also coming up. And come to find out about this:

Trader Joe's pumpkin ice cream

Rises over the pumpkin patch, to give good little boys and girls toys and treats!

How can I have been a near daily patron of Trader Joe’s for longer than I care to remember and not know about his product? A friend who works there was singing its praises so I picked up a carton. Because I do like a nice pumpkin pie.

OMG, as the kids say these days.

BOTH the Drama Teen and the Boy PLUS Mom (that’s me) agreed that this was good. Eat-the-whole-carton-by-yourself good. Fight-your-children-for-the-last-bit-good. And in fine Trader Joe’s tradition, it’s only available during the holiday season, and even then they reserve the right to run completely out of stock. That makes this also “buy-a-case-to-last-until-next-holiday-season” good.

You can imagine. No? You also like pumpkin pie? Then run out and get some of this quick. Because for all you know this is sold out. Already.

Got a fun or interesting Christmas-related product out there you want to hip me to? It’s not everyday a BHC Seal of Approval is awarded….

This also gets the BHC Seal of Approval.

Ralphs also has pumpkin CHEESECAKE ice cream. If that isn’t enough I top it with caramel sauce and toasted pecans. Unfortunately you have to eat almot the whole quarter to satisfy the cheesecake craving.

I haven’t seen the TJ’s ice cream, but have you ever had the Baskin Robbins pumpkin ice cream? You will DIE. Just write out your will before you have a scoop.
