I guess I’m just that age. The fact that the biggest indie music festival in the country is taking place this weekend only a few hours away barely registers.
While the fact that 100 local artisanal food-makers will be just up the road in perennially grid-locked Santa Monica has me scrambling for a ticket.
Last year’s fall event was a smashing success, as the sudden jump in number of participants suggests.
Buy your ticket online for $10. It’s $15 at the event itself, and no one can promise it won’t be sold out. And with all the scalpers out in the desert at Coachella, you’ll miss out on the deconstructed cakes, free coffee from Intelligentsia and marvels like bacon trail mix and local goat cheese. Neato kitchen accoutrement, like L.A.-based retro apron-maker Domestic Doll will be there too.
And in case you were wondering, yes, there will be a panel on feral bee keeping. (no joke, I’m actually fascinated by this idea as a way to help stop the current bee apocalypse…).
In all, a delicious way to spend this weekend. All you gotta do is find parking in Santa Monica.
Stay tuned…
