Pop-tarts New York, New York! It’s a wonderful town! The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down. The people ride in a hole in the ground …

…to Times Square, where the world’s first Pop Tarts shop is opening in August. That’s right. A store devoted to everyone’s favorite childhood breakfast pastry.

You didn’t read it here first, but pretend you did. And now, let us all join hands and hang our heads for a collective pout.

It’s just not FAIR! How come WE don’t get a Pop Tarts Shop? How come all the cool stuff always has to happen in New York City? (grumble, grumble).

Now stomp your feet … good. Maybe we’ll get our way. Because I think what the world really needs right now is a chain of clean, bright, fully-stocked Pop-Tarts shops, where adults can go and buy an old favorite or concoct a new flavor more suited to their grown-up taste buds.

I think Pop-Tarts could help us attain world peace. Really.

Well, I mean, it’s worth a try, don’t’cha think?

Sigh. Alas. for all of us who DON’T live in Manhattan, it’s business as usual when the random Pop-Tarts urge hits: sneak to the grocery store under cover of night to sheepishly buy ourselves a box, then creep home to hide it from the kids.

My favorite is still brown sugar cinnamon. But I’m not going to toss a classic Strawberry frosted out of bed, either.

Sigh. See? It makes me smile just thinking about them. I’m sure you are too.

What’s your favorite?

Only you could get me to admit that I too love these atrocities of nutrition. Frosted cherry-oh my.

Pop-tarts are great, but wait till you try the all-rice-pudding joint. Total eye-rolling, heavenly joy.
