How do you know it’s the holidays in Los Angeles? The Broguiere’s sightings begin.
“‘It’s at Pavillion’s…”
“Ralph’s has it, or did as of last night.”
Broguiere’s. It’s a nearly 90-year-old dairy in Montebello, Calif. that makes the kind of milk and dairy products people drive an hour and wait in line for.
Milk in glass bottles. Chocolate milk so thick and rich you want to take a bath in it. Pricier than a gallon of milk in the grocery store. But is there any question of worthiness?
And the egg nog. Oh lordy. Yes, it is yellow. And creamy. And guaranteed not heart healthy in the least. It is the mother of all Nogs.
And if you can find it … it pops up around town but never stays in stock very long — a you can be part of the tradition. Cut it with a little rum for some serious holiday cheer. (hmmm….maybe we need a Broguiere’s eggnog app…)

It’s like Christmas in your mouth! My favorite egg nog. Great article but i’m running low on my Broguiere’s egg nog and fear your latest blog will empty the store shelves before I get a chance to replenish my fridge’s supply!
In our area (West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland & DC area) we have Homestead Creamery and their Egg nog is amazing, thick spicey and very tasting. Sounds just like what you have the the west coast. I love egg nog season.
Drat! I was just at Bristol Farms this weekend and didn’t even look for it-too busy researching mulling spices. Guess I’ll have to go back, which also means purchasing more Moonstruck handcrafted chocolates.
YUM! I had no idea! How have I missed this for so long? Thanks for sharing -may get some for the tree decorating tonight!!
